The power of "I am"

"I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become."

"I am" statements are very powerful from a neuro linguistic programming approach to how we co-create our reality with the Universe. We have the capacity to reprogram ourselves with our thoughts, words and actions by simply modeling the behavior of who we wish to become. We have heard the phrase, "Act the part." It's really that simple, but that does not mean it's easy.

I was my own worst enemy before I realized how my dreary outlook on life and negative self-talk were destructive to the reality I was living in. I would think to myself "I am not good enough" or "I am getting nowhere," or "I hate my life." That's how I felt since that is what I was experiencing. The hardest thing for me to comprehend was how I was manifesting my life circumstances, whether good or bad (self-fulfilling prophecy). This realization blew my mind!

It was tough at first to focus on using a positive mindset just to feel like I was not living out some death sentence, imprisoned by my own mind. Positive self-talk and talk therapy helped me get to a place of happiness, while living with more purpose and joy.

Now I choose love over fear. I frequently use statements like "I am worthy," and "I am excited for my future," and "I love my life!" Making the switch from a negative to a positive mindset is a game we play with ourselves. We have to realize this first before we choose to make the switch so we can live out the best life available to us.
