"Surviving is important. Thriving is elegant."
Living during a pandemic can make us feel like we are in survival mode. I make an effort to stay healthy and safe, but I still meet up with family and friends and go about my business. I also make time to care for myself which has helped make the last year much more manageable. I have been on this growth mindset kick since recording a mixtape last year Living Our Why, which is all about leveling up in life while enjoying the ride. I love helping people live with more purpose and joy. I'm striving to promote this powerful message to people who are ready to commit to living their best life.
I used to live in survival mode. I used to have a negative image of myself, but I was more like Smokey Robinson in "Tears of a Clown." I played it cool on the outside, but I was a mess on the inside. I had played myself into a deep depression. My rock bottom moment was a suicide attempt at 25 that I feel was a wake up call for myself. To escape the darkness I started living healthier by eating better and exercising. I connected to Source in a way that changed the course of my life for good. I no longer wanted to merely survive. I was ready to thrive!
My late 20's launched me into striving and thriving mode. I wanted more out of life. I stopped feeling like a victim, from mostly my own self-harm. I started living with a positive mental attitude and treated myself and others with much more respect and kindness. It became more effortless as it sunk in that we all, for the most part, want the same things out of life. We want to love and be loved. We want success, however we define that. And I hope we all want to be treated with the respect we feel we deserve while also giving it accordingly. Living the Golden Rule absolutely helps me strive and thrive.
Striving and thriving is different for me at 43 since I now define success differently. I strive to live a happy life full of purpose and joy. I thrive by helping others level up in life. I also feel the striving and thriving alive inside me when I am rooting for my friends and family. Even during a global pandemic, I see them taking big leaps in their personal and professional lives. It's exciting and inspiring to witness! It gets me excited about my own striving and thriving in life. I found no more need for surviving when I'm too busy striving and thriving.
