"True life happens when tiny changes occur."
- Leo Tolstoy
It can be easy to get stuck in a routine that feels like a rut. We can get so caught up in tending to responsibilities and commitments in our personal and professional lives that we find ourselves going through the motions while not really paying attention to improving our quality of life. We may realize that instead of being proactive and making appropriate changes to improve our life, we are just responding to what life presents us. By doing frequent check-ins with ourselves, we may be able to make small adjustments to help us live a more fulfilling and satisfying life.
There's a a great quote from Sean Patrick Flanery, "Do something today that your future self will thank you for." It challenges us to make changes in our life that will provide us with a better life. It could be related to our careers, our relationships, our health, or any other area of our life where we feel things have gotten stale and could use improvement. When we notice that we are not where we want to be, no matter what area of our life we are looking at, it's up to us to make changes. Sometimes, it's subtle changes that can make all the difference.

In our professional lives, we can talk to colleagues or supervisors about options for advancing our careers or switching up our roles and responsibilities. Maybe it's time for a change. In our personal lives, we can reach out to loved ones we might not interact with as much as we would like to. Regarding our self-care, there are so many things we can do to improve our well-being, even if it's only a simple change to our nutrition (like limiting sugar intake) or bedtime routine (like eliminating screen time). Little changes can go a long way.
Have you been considering making some changes to help improve your wellbeing? If so, what's holding you back? If not, why not? There are always things we can do to help us live a better quality of life. We just have to make a commitment to ourselves and follow through on it. Small changes can lead to big rewards when we stick to them. Once we see the benefits, hopefully it inspires us to keep making positive changes in our life. We can start right now. Our future self is waiting to thank us for it.
