"There is no way to happiness - happiness is the way"
I decided long ago I wanted to live a happy life but did not know how to do it. During my quarter-life crisis I thought happiness was something I needed to pursue or chase. Not until I fully reconnected with my heart did I realize that happiness is something we must continue to cultivate in our lives if we intend to truly be happy. Happiness is not something beyond our reach. It exists permanently in the present moment for all of us . Happiness is something we simply tune into.
There is a big difference between being happy and having to manage the unfortunate circumstances that pop up in our lives. A big part of living on the bright side is accepting how life unfolds and how we respond to the unwanted stuff. I compare life to a choose-your-own-adventure comic book. More importantly, we get to choose our own mood on this adventure too! We decide how we respond to what life throws at us. This is not about life being fair. For me, it's about being more kind to myself and others when life feels unfair.
I also realized living a happy life does not require being happy 100% of the time. However, by cultivating my own happiness I am able to endure and work through the speed bumps and setbacks in life. I learned to tap into the well of happiness I have built up over the years through my family and friends, career, passion projects and positive outlook on life. Most importantly, I learned that I am solely responsible for my level of happiness in life.
So many people bring me happiness, but I also prevent others from disrupting my happiness too. We all interact with people who aim to bring us down to their unpleasant emotional level of vibration, whether they are aware of it or not. Misery certainly does love company. I respectfully decline those invitations. I refuse to allow anyone's bad mood to penetrate my field of positivity. I am happy to help my loved ones work through their issues, but I refuse to take on their negative energy. That's not being fair to myself. I choose happiness. I choose to live on the bright side of life. For this perspective, I am truly grateful. 🙏
