“No matter how bad or slow things go, you're still way ahead of everyone who isn't even trying.” - Tony Robbins
We do not always get to see the fruits of our labor in real-time. In fact, some of our biggest accomplishments in life happen gradually. Whether it's obtaining an advanced degree or building a business, we have to continuously invest our time, money and energy if we are ever going to see our intended results. We may experience setbacks and roadblocks along the way. We may even decide to completely shift our plans based on our progress. Even if we do not achieve what we set out to do, we still got results. We still made progress.
The most successful people on the planet refuse to give up, even when they do not achieve their intended results. They keep plugging away. They take the knowledge and results they obtained and use it to make better informed choices moving forward. They understand how they have to keep planting seeds of opportunity and tending to their garden in order for their ideas to grow into fruition. It's the difference between being deterred or more determined when there is nothing ready to harvest just yet.

To stick with the garden analogy, we reap what we sow. If we are not sowing, there is nothing to reap. We cannot tend to our garden if we are not always planting new crops so we can keep enjoying the fruits of our labor. We should not get discouraged when tending to our endeavors that require more time and energy, or after receiving unintended results. Patience and resilience are required to keep us committed to our garden. We can always plant smaller crops that require less maintenance to satisfy us in the meantime. However, if we want those large crops that come in the form of diplomas and anniversaries, we have to put forth the constant effort.
No matter what size crops we are planting these days, it's important to keep tending to our garden so we can continue to enjoy the fruits of our labor. It takes constant effort. When it comes to the bigger goals, our persistence will eventually pay off. We may not always get the intended results, but we always get results. We should not allow setbacks to prevent us from planting more crops and tending to our garden. That's why we tend to a garden and not just one plant. When we have an entire garden, there will always be enough. We just have to keep tending to it with constant effort.
